SustainHealth recently reached out to our September Locum of the Month for Nursing & Midwifery, Sarah.
We enjoyed getting to know more about Sarah and are delighted for her to be a part of the SustainHealth Candidate Experience Series as a Remote Area Nurse in NT.

What is your current role?
Remote Area Nurse
How many years of experience do you have?
Too many to count, but none in remote community work until now.
What’s an interesting fact about you?
There’s not much interesting about me… except that I am happy to take on new challenges and experiences.
Where are you currently located?
At Galiwinku on Elcho Island NT. We travel by 4WD, or tiny plane to these communities, taking all our equipment, medications, and supplies with us.
How long is your contract?
6 weeks this time
Why did you choose this location?
I was keen to work in a warm location to escape the Sydney winter for a while.
What have been the highlights of your contract?
Getting out to the community – the care we provide is often simple but appreciated, & the children are delightful!
What do you want your fellow contractors to know about your location or job role?
It’s better than you think it will be. ?
What essential items do you take with you when you leave home to work on a contract?
I could have brought a few niche food items, but we can get the basics on Island.

I already have!

Take a plunge into the great unknown – chances are you will bring home more than you leave behind.
